About Us

Our Story

Mess Makers is a little family run business based in Auckland, NZ. It started in our bath tub at home with a carton of custard and a pot of cooked spaghetti. When we saw how much fun our kids were having squeezing, squishing and digging we knew we were on to something! Mess Makers sessions are just the same but bigger, messier and way more fun!!

Lets make some mess

At Mess Makers we are all about providing your little ones with exciting opportunities to get messy and explore fun new sensory activities! The sessions are designed for exploration, experiment and pushing the creative limits by squishing, squeezing, digging, pouring, mixing and splatting everything in sight. Mess Makers sessions are ideal for children 6 months (or sitting unaided) to 3 years. However older children are always welcome.

Why messy play?

Messy play provides children with an exciting tactile and sensory experience that inspires their curiosity.

Children learn through experimentation and discovery and messy play encourages children to explore new textures and manipulate different materials through touch.

Exploring how things feel, smell and taste, nurtures an awareness and understanding of the world that surrounds them. It enhances there learning, language and creativity.

Four great reasons messy  play rocks

Messy play fosters Curiosity, Imagination and Exploration - There is no right way to carry out messy play, it's all about letting children explore and experiment with different objects and raw materials without any end goals to restrict them.

Messy Play Promotes Physical Development - Hands-on play offers many physical benefits, allowing your children to develop an awareness of their body and personal space whilst strengthening their muscle control.

Messy Play Encourages Communication and Language Development - Messy play is a sociable activity, whether with family or other children, so naturally, it will enrich relationships through social interaction.

Messy Play Supports the Ability to Play Independently - With messy play, we can teach them that you can make your own entertainment! In an unrestricted play environment where there is no right or wrong way to do things, it is the perfect situation to allow your child to play how they want to.
